![]() The walls of Providence, where the artist studied, were the first "canvas", followed by those of other cities such as Los Angeles, Boston, New York. Obey's story officially began in 1989 with the campaign of stickers depicting the face of André the Giant, the famous wrestler. With his Street Art Works Obey wants to impose and provoke a reflection on the viewer at the same time, the absence of an effective response triggers a reaction of interpretation so deep that it leads to self-reflection. Obedience is both a personal story of the artist and a provocation to society, but it is also the meaning and motivation that lies behind his works, from stickers to screen prints. This society led him to the blind obedience without awareness thus becoming the reason for his name choice. Why does the artist choose the name Obey? Shepard Fairey soon realized how society taught him absorb and react on images, but without actually explaining the meaning. Obey ( Shepard Fairey) began working as a graphic designer at the Skateboard Watershed Store designing logos, sticker graphics and t-shirts, laying the foundations and the knowledge for his future fashion brand: Obey Clothing. While attending school he deepens his knowledge of Sticker Art and he discovers the communicative power that this type of art has, regardless of the topic or message that needs to be delivered. Honestly, the only genuinely decent part of the game is the campaign map, which is severely hampered by its diplomacy system being limited to bordered countries. If you've played a Total War game before then battles are self explanatory. The tutorial is very short and very vague so good luck with that too, though it's only really needed for the campaign map. ![]() ![]() You can't do diplomacy with factions that you don't directly border! This is a huge crime for games of this type and makes it harder than it has any right to be. The game's difficulty comes from the stupid mechanics mainly, path finding is incredibly bad and sometimes units won't go where you tell them at all. Naval battles are worse than anything I've ever played, they're just a massive pain to control. It has a beautiful campaign map but the actual battles are incredibly dull due to little to no variance between the factions and the fact that there is nothing about morale or stamina to factor into with battles means it's literally fights to the death or until victory points are captured. It's a very poor man's Empire/Napoleon Total War.
